Your workplace could help Alport UK reach new supporters and raise vital funds – and it could all start with one conversation.
Many companies have dedicated budgets, fundraising schemes or charity partnerships to support causes that matter to their employees. If Alport matters to you, introducing Alport UK to your employer could open the door to a new partnership.
And you don’t need to organise everything yourself. Sometimes, the most important thing you can do is simply start the conversation.
How your workplace could help
There are many ways businesses can support Alport UK. Your workplace could:
- nominate Alport UK as its Charity of the Year
- offer matched giving, increasing the value of money you raise
- organise a workplace fundraiser
- support Alport UK through payroll or charitable giving
- make a corporate donation
- explore a longer-term partnership or sponsorship
Not sure what your company offers? Try asking your manager, colleagues or HR team:
“How does our company choose the charities it supports?”
That one question could lead to something much bigger.
Why Alport UK?
Alport UK is the only UK charity dedicated solely to Alport syndrome.
We support people living with Alport and their families, provide trusted information, bring our community together and help drive research forward.
If you have a personal connection to Alport, sharing your experience can be particularly powerful. It helps colleagues understand why Alport matters to you – and why their support could make a difference.
We have already seen what can happen when members of our community start these conversations.

Zahra’s story: more than £28,000 raised
Zahra Siddiqui is the mother of Kamran, who lives with Alport.
In April, Zahra reached out to her colleagues at Mills & Reeve and shared her experience as the mother of a child living with Alport.
By telling Kamran’s story and introducing her workplace to Alport UK, Zahra helped raise more than £28,000 for our charity.
It started with a personal connection and became an incredible contribution to our work.
George’s story: making Alport UK Charity of the Year
George Walker is the father of two boys, Patrick and Jamie, who both live with Alport.
George spoke to his colleagues at Allsop about his family’s experience of Alport. In 2026, Allsop chose Alport UK as its Charity of the Year.
So far, the partnership has raised more than £13,000 – and counting.

But the story did not stop there.
When George shared his experience at Allsop, his colleague Will got in touch. Will’s nephew had a similar condition, giving him his own personal connection to the cause.
That connection grew into action. Will is now leading Allsop’s fundraising for Alport UK.
It is a great example of how sharing one story can uncover connections you may never have known were there.

Could you start the next conversation?
You don’t need to have a fundraising plan before approaching your workplace.
Simply tell them why Alport matters to you. Ask how they support charities and whether Alport UK could be considered.
If they are interested, put them in touch with us and we can take it from there.
We can help with fundraising ideas, information about Alport UK, materials, merchandise and other support to help turn an initial conversation into action.
